A world famous graphic designer and founding partner of Chermayeff and Geismar, Tom Geismar is responsible for the conception and construction of over one hundred corporate identity logos and brands over the past forty years. Chermayeff and Geismar is a graphic design firm specialising in the development of exhibitions, print and motion graphics, art in architecture and trademarks. This firm was originally founded by himself and two other well known graphic designers: Robert Brownjohn and Ican Chermayeff. He has created several logos that we can easily identify with to this day such as Mobil Oil and Xerox. Other, less well known brands, include Gemini Consulting, PBS, Univision, Rockefeller centre, Chase Manhattan Bank and Best Products. His design for Mobil Oil has received worldwide acclaim. For his work he has received many major awards in his field including the prestigious ‘Presidential Design Award’. He received this particular award for the part he played in formalising and establishing a national system of understandable transportation characters and symbols. Tom Geismar concurrently attended the Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown, he received a master’s degree in graphic design from Yale University, School of Art and Architecture.
